Abstract- With the mounting popularity as an artisanal fish commodity and intriguing migratory patterns, the ox-eye herring (Megalops cyprinoides), lingers under sampled despite its wide distribution and tremendous availability. Being a long lived species, M. cyprinoides, relies immensely on its habitats frequently disposed to human interventions, warranting monitoring and management measures and further research into the unknown gauge of data deficiency in population dynamics, reproductive biology and life history. The present attempts to shed light on population dynamics and reproductive biology of M. cyprinoides from the coastal waters of Kerala. The length-weight relationship of the b value ranged from 2.63 to 2.65 and the length-length relationship of the b value ranged from 1.0 to 1.01. L∞ was observed to be low (39.38) and the population showed positive allometry. The observations on reproductive biology from the collection sites revealed that there is no conspicuous gonadal maturation implying that the samples are all juveniles.
